Foster Grandparents serve 15 - 40 hours per week mentoring, tutoring, and supporting children of the Concho Valley (Coke, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, McCulloch, Mason, Menard, Reagan, Runnels, Schleicher, Sutton, Sterling and Tom Green Counties) . The children we serve are disadvantaged youth, children with special needs, children with special circumstances, children of military Veterans, and children of deployed Active duty military. Services are provided in elementary schools, Head Start Programs, and approved after-school programs.
Foster Grandparents may receive, mileage reimbursement, meals at some Stations, annual volunteer appreciation, Pre-Service orientation training, monthly In-Service training, and supplemental accident/liability insurance.
To qualify: You must be 55 years of age of older, complete an application, meet the job description qualification, meet income guidelines, pass a physical, pass a criminal background check, sex offender check and agree to be fingerprinted.
Completing an application does not automatically guarantee you a volunteer position. Applications are reviewed and those applicants that are qualified to serve as a volunteer will be called for an interview. An interview does not automatically guarantee you a volunteer position.

Mission Statement
The Foster Grandparent Program of the Concho Valley Council of Governments is to be the focal point through which the experience, talents and energy of adults 60 years of age or older, are utilized as a positive influence for special and exceptional needs children, "at-risk" youths, and as a role model for the community at large.
Description
The Foster Grandparent Program of the Concho Valley was founded in 1997. It is federally funded by the Corporation for National Community Service, and is sponsored locally by the Concho Valley Council of Governments. The program is designed to provide meaningful volunteer assignments for older individuals. Foster Grandparents serve 20 - 40 hours per week providing support and companionship to special and exceptional needs children in educational, daycare, juvenile and community center settings.
