Description

The Alzheimer's Association is a non-profit health services organization providing leadership, support, education, advocacy and research for families affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The Public Policy Intern will assist the Support Group and Advocacy Manager with the program directives of the Public Policy program. This volunteer position could be for a senior level undergraduate or a graduate student.

The individual will need:

Possess excellent written, verbal and listening skills.

Not be intimidated by the legislative process.

Must have basic computer skills.

The individual will develop:

Familiarity with association and community disease-related resources, programs and events.

A comfortable level of knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Individual will work on and gain experience in the following activities:

Research.

Compiling information on what other states are doing concerning public policy.

Some public policy development.

Building support for issues among lawmakers and other public officials.

Work with the Association's Public Policy Committee.
