The University of Virginia Music Department hosts over 100 concerts a year. Volunteer ushers create a welcome and safe environment for Music event patrons. Ushers will be standing for 30+ minutes while scanning tickets, distributing programs, directing patrons, and assisting with any unforeseen issues. Ushers dress neatly in a white dress shirt and slacks/skirt.
Ushers can hear the entire concert at no cost. No prior ushering experience is needed-- you get trained just before the event!
We are seeking volunteers who enjoy classical, jazz, world and/or new music.

The McIntire Department of Music at the University of Virginia hosts over 100 events in the academic year. Degree programs are available in the following areas: Performance, Critical and Comparative Studies, Composition and Computer Technologies, and Music Encoding Initiative.
Description
As a volunteer for the McIntire Department of Music you will meet and work with people who bring unique gifts and enthusiasm to their work. Our volunteers come from many diverse occupations and backgrounds and are pursuing different goals, but they share a common interest in music and an appreciation for the many programs that are produced by the McIntire Department of Music.
Volunteer positions are both challenging and rewarding experiences that foster personal, professional and intellectual growth. Volunteer opportunities are available for regular assignments as well as on-call opportunities for special events such as concerts, lectures, fundraisers and receptions.
