Your Gift, Their Good
Organization |
Description
What is your hobby, special skill, talent, passion, etc.?
Please come share your gifts and talents with the children living at the The Nelson Center. The Nelson Center is a residential treatment center and home to 60 children ages 5-16 who have been victims of severe abuse and neglect.
The children at the Nelson Center always benefit from the creative skills and diverse talents of volunteers who come to spend time with them. Use the gifts you have been given for their good - to teach them, share with them, encourage them, and give them a vision for their own futures.
Examples of volunteer opportunities at Nelson Center:
Handymen come teach our boys how to repair fences and build birdhouses.
Mechanics show our adolescents how to maintain their first car.
Barbers and beauticians cut the children's hair and teach them to style their own.
Artists teach our children to draw.
Make-up connoisseurs teach our girls how to apply make-up and our boys how to care for their skin.
Grandmothers teach our children how to sew, quilt, and crochet.
Volunteers are also welcome to tutor, mentor, and plan birthday parties and chapel services for the residents!
The opportunities are endless! Please contact Rebekah.Chase@LSSS.org for more information on the Nelson Center and volunteering there.
