Position Description
We have an opening for an Event Intern for Summer/Fall 2009. Our Event Intern will work directly with the Development Team to assist in organizing WTC's 9th Annual Auction for Action. General tasks include coordinating and supervising volunteers for this special event, data entry, and item procurement and pick-up. The auction will take place at Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion on October 15, 2009.

Who We Are

Washington Toxics Coalition(WTC) is a non-profit organization that protects health and the environment by eliminating toxic pollution. Since 1981, WTC has promoted alternatives, advocated policies, empowered communities, and educated people to create a healthy environment.

Commitment
10 hours a week until the event, and the day and evening of the event on October 15, 2009.

Washington Toxics Coalition is a membership organization which advocates reduced reliance on toxic chemicals and the elimination of the production, use and release of those toxic chemicals which persist and bioaccumulate, threaten species survival, or cause severe injury. Through staff and volunteers, the Toxics Coalition seeks to achieve its goals through proactive education and advocacy, distributing model alternative policies and practices, challenging existing premises about pollution control, empowering activists by providing information and technical assistance in grassroots organizing, working with diverse coalitions in local and global forums, engaging in litigation, and acting as a credible and accurate information resource for policy makers and the general public.

Description

Washington Toxics Coalition helps protect individuals and families from unnecessary exposures to toxic chemicals with information on least toxic alternatives, public education and advocacy.
