ORGANIZATION: JVS, Jewish Vocational Service

Development Intern: Under the direction of the Director, the intern will assist with various projects as they arise.Tasks include data entry, donor cultivation, marketing/promotion activities, fund-raising mailings and events. Responsibilities include: Researching potential grant opportunities, Assisting with mailings - mail merges, printing and stuffing and assisting with the planning and coordination of informational or fund-raising events Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5pm (flexible hours) Yesodot strives to be a lifeline for Jewish and interfaith families challenged by disability who live in the metro Boston area. Yesodot is committed to maximizing the potential and building community foundations ("yesodot") for children and young adults by strengthening their families via a broad array of support programs and services. Yesodot members believe that strong and empowered families lead to enhanced quality of life and greater independence for their loved ones with disabilities. Yesodot is unique in that its programs are family-centered and family-directed, and are based on the idea that families can best identify their own support needs. Yesodot is a service of JVS, a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization and an agency of Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Yessodot maximizes potential and builds community foundations ("yesodot") for Jewish children and young adults with disabilities by empowering their families. Yesodot provides parent and sibling support; family recreational outings; presents educational workshops; disseminates information and develops resources; offers programs for young people transitioning from high school, and runs an assistive technology project. Yesodot participates in public awareness activities and collaborates to foster community inclusion. Yesodot also has a project with Boston's sister city, Haifa, Israel. Yesodot welcomes interfaith families at all activities. Yesodot is a service of JVS, a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization and an agency of Combined Jewish Philanthropies.

Our Impact

For 75 years JVS has been helping people secure financial independence through educational and employment services. Each year, JVS empowers more than 21,000 individuals through more than 36 services that guide clients on a pathway to meaningful employment; some of which include educational testing, skills training, English for Speakers of Other Languages, job search training, career counseling, Adult Basic Literacy and Adult Diploma Program instruction, citizenship education and financial literacy.
