We are looking for all types of animals who are currently certified as a Pet Therapy animal to visit our patients on Hospice. You would never know how much these pet therapy visits impact the lives of those on hospice until you witness this first hand. There is an unspoken connection between the animal and hospice patient which is amazing to experience. These visits are very meaningful to our patients and we would love to have you join our team of volunteers. We have a wonderful group of volunteers who give unselfishly of themselves to make our patients feel special, loved and wanted. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families and to treat each patient as we would our own family member. Pet must be certified as a pet therapy animal through the Delta Society, Therapy Dogs International, PAWS or any organization of this caliber who tests and certifies animals for pet therapy. You will need to provide proof that your animal has liability insurance (the Delta Society provides this for you), is up to date on vaccinations, is bathed and clean prior to visit. The owner must attend one of our volunteer training sessions and the pet is welcome to attend with you. We provide the TB test, drug screening and background check for the handler all at no cost to you. Contact me for date of next volunteer training class.
