Help people touched with diabetes connect through social media

Description

We run a Facebook page with nearly 6,000 fans and multiple Twitter accounts with well over 6,000 followers between them. Additionally, we recently launching a Facebook game focused on healthy eating and healthy habits, which requires help managing its associated Facebook page.

We need someone to help in all these fronts who can hit the ground running, so comfort using Facebook and Twitter is a must.

The person doing this position will learn about:
* Social Media marketing: multi-platform promotion of events, news and initiatives.
* Social Media communications: reply to inquiries posted via Facebook/Twitter, directing people to appropriate resources based on the question(s) asked.
* Ning: the founder of the nonprofit wrote "Ning For Dummies"; the nonprofit runs two social networks on Ning for people touched by diabetes with more than 26,000 registered members.
* Basecamp, Google Groups: centralized communications platform.

Skills

  • Diabetes: Passionate about diabetes: ideally, people with diabetes or with a loved one who has diabetes.
  • Communication, social media experience: Excellent communication skills: writing messages following the voice and tone of the organization.
  • Organization, PR, Mktg.: Very good organization skills: time management and information management. Marketing or PR experience a plus.
