If you are interested in volunteering with your pet, we are looking for you!

Offering non-judgemental, unconditional love & affection, animals impart a calming and positive effect on individuals in ways that other humans often cannot. Pets help to relax and calm by taking the human mind off of loneliness, grief, pain & fear. They bring joy & laughter and offer a sense of security & protection.

Pet Visitor Teams (pet owner/handler) are paired with hospice patients who enjoy animals and would most benefit from a friendly animal visitor.

We require that all Pet Visitor Teams be registered with an organization, such as the Delta Society or Therapy Dogs International, that will provide education & testing for you and your pet to determine if your pet's temperament would be appropriate for this type of service. (please contact Delta Society or Therapy Dogs Intn'l directly for information re: testing and registration requirements for their individual organizations.)

Volunteer hours are flexible and scheduled according to patient needs and volunteer availability. Since we do provide service to patients in their own homes or in extended care facilities throughout Milwaukee & Waukesha Counties, location of the patient and volunteer is taken into account when planning volunteer assignments.

Mission Statement

Care, Comfort & Compassion for the Whole Family We believe everyone deserves to live in comfort and dignity throughout their lives. Hospice care helps ensure that those with a life-limiting illness live each day to its fullest; we do that by tending to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. All of us at Hospice Advantage believe strongly in our mission of helping patients and their families during this time.

Description

We're committed to providing the highest quality care that our patients and their families deserve.

In becoming a hospice volunteer, you will embark on an exciting adventure which will not only improve the lives of others but uplift your spirit as well.

"Volunteers embody all that is best about hospice. When hope seems lost, volunteers are found at the bedside asking for nothing but the opportunity to give. When all the news seems to be bad, volunteers deliver a warm message of universal friendship and community. When all the power and promise of our high-tech society and healthcare system yield as they must to human mortality, volunteers remind us of the mystical and eternal value of human connectedness. Without volunteers, hospice as we know it ... and as we want it to be ... ceases to exist." - Rod Hildebrant, Owner & President of Hospice Advantage
