Mission Statement

The Los Alamos Light Opera

A. The primary objective of the organization shall be to produce one or more light operas or musical plays each calendar year, if possible.

B. To bring good musical entertainment to the community of Los Alamos through efforts of interested people in Los Alamos and vicinity.

C. To allow citizens of Los Alamos and vicinity an opportunity to exhibit exceptional talents before appreciative audiences.

Description

Los Alamos Light Opera is a community based organization that has been producing quality Light Opera performances in los Alamos since 1948. Each production is a community effort of talented volunteers that make our productions such a success. Each production involves not only local actor talent, but dancing, sincing, set design, and orchestra. Ticket sales from each performance are used to produce the next production. LALO also supports local HS scholars seeking scholarships at universities across the US in the area of Theater and Arts. LALO has a very active Board of Directors who are integral to all business related to the LALO.

LALO productions are historically performed on the stage of the Duane Smith Auditorium at the Los Alamos High School. The theater holds approximately 900.
