Pet visits are a great way to spend quality time with your critter. Compassus Hospice is looking for pets and their owners to visit our patients (people with life-limiting illness and diagnosed with six months or less to live). Many of the patients have had animals in their lives and have had to give them up as illness has progressed. Watch patients smile, open up, connect, and even communicate with you and your pet in ways they may not with other people. Enjoy hearing life stories shared with you and your pet. Compassus Palliative and Hospice Care is a community-based hospice - traveling to private homes and skilled nursing facilities across METRO DENVER. Assignments are close to your home or work. Hours are flexible, based on your availability. Average is 2-3 hours per week, based on your schedule. Core training is provided for new volunteers to ensure appropriate skills and volunteer confidence. The dog will need additional training through Therapy Dogs Inc., a partner with Compassus Hospice.
