The volunteer bookkeeper assists the Finance Director in the day-to-day recording of the financial transactions of the Diabetes Society. This position requires someone who has meticulous attention to detail and accuracy and who has experience in bookkeeping and QuickBooks. The volunteer bookkeeper is a part-time, 4-6 hours per week position, at least twice a week. Responsibilities (with approximate percentage of time anticipated):(75%) Processing Deposits- The volunteer bookkeeper makes copies of all checks received, with the help of staff/finance director codes the checks appropriately and prepares the deposits. Enters the deposits into QuickBooks. Prepares check requests for administrative bills and gives them to the Director of Finance and Administration for signing. Enters all check requests into QuickBooks. Maintains a detailed accessible system of filing deposit records. ( 25%) Accounts Payable-Responds knowledgeably to first instance inquiries from vendors regarding balances. Updates vendor contact information. In the absence of the Director of Finance prints out basic reports as needed by management. Assists in gathering information required for the weekly check run. Prepares check requests for administrative bills and gives them to the Director of Finance and Administration for signing. Enters all check requests into QuickBooks. Maintains a detailed accessible system of filing check request and other AP records.
Skills
- QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a background in bookkeeping, solid mathematical skills, strong customer service, general office support, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Qualifications include: Bookkeeping experience is preferred but training will be provided to someone with the right work ethic. Full proficiency in QuickBooks and excel would be preferred but training will be provided if candidate matches other criteria. Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy Trustworthy with a terrific work ethic accompanied by a positive, get-it-done attitude. Excellent people skills and ability to work within a team approach with a caring compassionate manner and ability to ask for help when in doubt.
