Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs (PawPADs) is seeking individuals who are passionate about the power our dogs can have to create positive change in a life and who interested in being an active part of this innovative organization.
Background: Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs is a nonprofit organization offering life-changing alternative experiential programs which utilize the training of service dogs in our various educational programs. Our dogs have been successfully placed with wounded warriors and others with physical disabilities, adults and children with diabetes, children with autism, and as veterans home and school resource facility dogs.
Our mission: Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs (PawPADs) facilitates the power of the human-canine bond, and enhances the lives of others, through the process of training service dogs and the outcome of placing them with people with disabilities.
Board of Director Position: We are seeking up 2 additional Board members
Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs seeks individuals who are passionate about the power of human- canine bond and who are interested in being an active part of this innovative, proven organization.
Board of Director Positions: Directors serve a minimum of a one year term (with the option to extend up to five terms). The Directors currently meet monthly - or as mutually agreed upon. The business aspect of the meetings take approximately 2 hours - with opportunity to socialize and, of course, play with dogs after each meeting. It is our sincere hope that Board Members would enjoy our Board meetings!
The diverse group of Board members we seek will:
- First and foremost, have a genuine commitment to PawPADs mission, and become knowledgeable about PawPADs
- Willing to learn about the organization and guide the fiscal and legal aspects of the organization;
- Provide valuable insight, direction and help with our work of transforming lives through the training of service dogs;
- Act as Ambassadors for the program;
- Be active volunteers and sustaining supporters;
- Enthusiastically guide the organization into a sustainable future;
- Be active participants in development / fund raising efforts;
- Offer different levels and types of skills which are needed;
- Make connections to corporate and/or philanthropic communities;
- Be computer literate with access to Internet and computer.
- Be individuals with proven leadership in the business or community sector and/or individuals from the populations we serve.
Each Board member brings his/her unique strengths to the team in order to support the growth of the organization. Here is a sampling of what we seek:
- Individuals who personally give and/or have the willingness to invite others to give gifts of $3,500 or more/yr. Donor activists committed to organizing other donors to support Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs are especially motivational members of our team.
- Individuals connected to the issue and communities that Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs works with. Community activists who have broad community connections and can bring specialized skills and expertise are critical to the success of continuing our mission.
- Individuals engaged day to day in social change work with strong ties and involvement in grassroots communities.

Description
Pawsitive Perspective's innovative programs were designed to create powerful, life-enhancing experiences through working, and being partnered, with assistance dogs. We place service dogs with wounded warriors, individuals with physical disabilities, diabetic alert dogs, autism service dogs and facility/school resource dogs.
PawPADs utilizes the process of training the dogs as a therapeutic and educational experience through programs such as Project YES! (youth at risk), Prison Road Puppies (inmates) and Paw Corps (veterans).
