Conservation Advocate

Description

Do you like to influence people? Do you like to dig into an issue and discover its relevance in our world today? Do you care about the environment and our place in it? If YES, then read on:

Help support Audubon's environmental conservation efforts through local, state and Federal policy advocacy. Attend public meetings, events, open houses, workshops and other forums on issues related to the Chapter's goals and specifically identified by the conservation leadership team. Research issues, create summaries for the Chapter newsletter and website, write letters to elected officials and letters to the editor, represent the Chapter and those same issues at public outreach events.

Skills

  • Environmental Advocacy: Educating the public about environmental issues, especially those affecting birds and their habitat, and inspiring interest in taking action about the same.
  • Writing: Researching environmental issues and summarizing them for publication on webpages, newsletters and the media.
  • Public Speaking: Comfortable with, at a minimum, brief public statements on particular issues at community and government meetings.
