IONA Senior Services is dedicated to enabling older people to live with dignity and independence. Regular exercise can greatly improve seniors' physical and mental well being, and IONA provides a number of opportunities for participants to stay active. If you have experience leading aerobics, strength training, yoga, or other fitness classes, you could make a huge difference to seniors in our community by volunteering to instruct fitness classes with us. The volunteer could be involved in one or both of the following programs:
-IONA's Midday Programs, which serve active seniors and provide exercise classes, arts activities, films, lectures, field trips, and a hot meal. Open 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
-IONA's Wellness and Arts Center, which cares for seniors who are frail or have dementia and provides a stimulating series of activities, including games, discussions, fitness programming, and art therapy. Open 8:15 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Schedule: A few hours per month, based on volunteer availability and program need.
