  • 224 people are interested

Family Promise of Bryan-College Station is an area-wide, faith-based, non-profit ministry that supports children and their families who are experiencing homelessness as they search for jobs, undergo job training, and obtain permanent housing. Family Promise meets a family's immediate needs for shelter and food by providing a safe environment for families to stay together during their housing crisis. We accept families who do not have a home of their own and who may be living with friends and family, in their cars, in shelters, outdoors, or facing immediate eviction.

Day center volunteers answer the phone and take messages, may do light clerical work, and interact with the children and their parents. It's also a great place to read or study. The most important function a volunteer does is to simply be there. Shifts are available from 7 am - 8:30 pm seven days a week. Overnight shifts are also available.

The ministry is affiliated with the nation-wide Family Promise, which began in New York City in 1986. To learn more about us, please see our website at http://familypromisebcs.org
