ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Gateway Area Chapter

Position Summary:
The Service Provider volunteer will provie administrative support to the Programs and Services Administrator with the Chapter's information and referral resources, including the service provider database. With up-to-date, accurate, and appropriate resources, The Gateway Area Chapter can provide essential information and referrals to individuals impacted by MS. Access to MS information and referrals can lead to an improvement in the lives of those living with MS, their support network, and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Collect updated data on excisting providers on an annual schedule
  • Transition records to a standardized format
  • Create new provider records after chapter approval
  • Enter data in to the Society-wide database system called Altair
  • Other duties related to updating the service provider database as needed.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Comfortable learning new computer software and web-based programs
  • Previous internet research experience preferred
  • Comfortable making phone calls to providers to collect additional information
  • Attention to detail of high importance

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and nationwide network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking volunteers to the MS cause is the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fund-raising activities:

  • Bike MS
  • Walk MS

The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people living with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as:

  • Marketing/Communications
  • Public relations
  • Corporate and donor development
  • Medical, legal, administrative.
