Teaching English as Second Language (TESOL) Assistant

Description
Refugees are legal immigrants who have fled persecution and war in their home countries. The US government takes in hundreds of these refugees each year in order to help them survive and make a new life. Catholic Charities helps these newly arrived families get settled, learn English, and find a job in order to become self-sufficient in this completely new and different environment.
You can help adult refugees learn to speak, read, and write in English as a second language (ESL). No foreign language skills are required, and no teaching experience is necessary. We will show you how!
You will assist a teacher and/or lead a group of 15 to 20 adults who are eager to speak, read, and write English. Classes are held in multiple locations throughout the Vickery Meadows area (zip code 75231) on Monday - Friday, mornings and evenings.
Refugee families come from many different cultures and countries, including Sudan, Somalia, Burundi, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Iraq, and Iran. Catholic Charities serves refugees of all faiths.
