Share your love of reading with children!

Give children the joy of reading by reading aloud to youngsters at one of the San Jose Public Libraries. Bilingual readers in Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English are especially desired. Reading occurs in the library's children's area at a designated time during the day. Specialized training is provided to all incoming volunteers. Several of our library branches are seeking volunteers to read to children on an ongoing basis. Duties would include:

  • Selecting appropriate books for reading aloud (training provided).
  • Reading aloud to a group of 1-12 children at designated times (training provided).

Training is done in a 3 hour session on Saturday, September 19, 1:00 - 4:00 pm) at the King Library.

This position requires fingerprinting for those ages 18 and over. There is a six month minimum service commitment.
