Fourth Annual ¡CARNAVAL for PEACE! February 24, 2009

Each year, Nonviolent Peaceforce Minneapolis hosts a benefit event in February with a Carnaval theme. The event includes a social hour, silent auction, dinner, and dance and usually attracts about 250-350 guests. Some of the logistical details are already in place such as the venue, band, and date. However, we are seeking to increase our revenue from this event and would like some fresh new ideas. There will be lots of room for input and creativity and this is a fun event to plan!

To coordinate the Fourth Annual Carnaval for Peace Event

• Planning the event, including input on the theme and managing the event work plan and timeline
• Convening an event committee and holding regular meetings
• Coordinating the silent auction (supported by an excellent solicitation volunteer)
• Confirming vendors, working with vendors to ensure quality, etc...
• Designing and sending invitations to table captains and guests, follow up
• Identifying and soliciting potential event sponsors and potential in kind contributions
• Recruiting and scheduling volunteers for event day
• Serving as host/hostess on the day of the event (including set up and tear down)
• Post-event follow up

• * Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to multi-task, proactive, team player who can also work individually, computer skills in Word and Excel, strong communication skills, positive attitude, events planning experience a plus. Requirements: * A five to six month commitment, strong organizational and multi tasking skills, positive attitude. Your support will include: * A dedicated silent auction volunteer * A committee (convened and organized by you, with the support of NP staff) * NP Development Director * NP Database Manager * Event Planning Intern
