Update - We have frequent requests for Bereavement Bears (teddy bears made from a patient's clothing) to give to young children and family members after a patient passes. We are in need of additional sewers to help create these special memory gifts. If you are a gifted sewer, please consider using your talents, time, and creativity to create something that will provide significant comfort for loved ones for many years!

Create a gift of caring for patients receiving end-of-life care using your skills as a Quilter, Seamstress (both machine and hand-stitch), Knitter, Crocheter. These gifts can also provide comfort and caring as a lasting keepsake for their families.

Join our Caring Crafters team to make unique gifts of comfort, dignity and beauty for our patients. You will contribute your own designs making each handmade item special. Approximately each month we evaluate and communicate what needs we have to fill our Caring Crafter closet with beautiful items to give to our patients!

We provide guidelines for our projects - they may include knitted/crocheted socks, leg warmers, lap blankets, small and large quilts, catheter covers, clothing protectors, and special requests for individual patients including the pillow covers that every Spectrum Health Hospice patient receives.

While the majority of our Caring Crafter projects are focused on sewing, knitting or crocheted items; we occasionally offer specialty crafting opportunities.

We will send you an application and information packet. . Caring Crafters who track the hours spent volunteering are invited to all in-service and recognition events and receive our newsletters.
