The English Skills Learning Center trains volunteers to teach adult English Language Learners.

We serve over five hundred adult adults in the area right now, with the list of waiting students growing daily! Many of the students requesting classes right now are motivated to prepare for the citizenship exam. Our services are completely free to the student and we offer our classes at times and locations that are convenient to both the volunteer and the student(s). Many of our classes are taught in libraries, community centers, apartment complex community rooms, elementary schools, and people's homes. We offer a comprehensive training for all of our volunteers and we provide them with all of the necessary teaching materials, including materials pertinent to the citizenship exam. We ask our volunteers to meet with their students twice a week for an hour and half each, and to commit to tutoring for a minimum of 100 hours.

The ESL Center is also looking for volunteers to serve in our other programs including:
One-on-one tutoring
Small group classes
Empowering Parents classes - teaching parents of young children English skills as well as how to become better, more involved parents.
