Zenon Dance School seeks qualified volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors. Employees of larger Twin Cities-based corporations are especially encouraged to apply.

Founded in 1983, Zenon Dance School has been teaching the Twin Cities dance community for 39 years. Zenon Dance School’s mission is to sustain an artistically excellent professional dance school through high quality dance instruction with local, national, and international instructors and choreographers. Our Zenon Dance Zone program offers training and performance opportunities for promising local dancers and choreographers. Housed in two beautiful studios on the 4th floor of the Cowles Center for Dance in downtown Minneapolis, Zenon offers four sessions of classes per year with 45-50 classes offered per session, to a pre-pandemic annual average of 1,750 recreational, preprofessional, and professional dancers.

The mission of Zenon Dance School, Inc. is to provide high quality dance instruction for avocational to professional dancers in a diverse curriculum.

Description

Since 1983, Zenon Dance School is an eclectic venue for learning ballet, tap, breakdance, hip-hop, yoga, African, and other styles that reflect the trend in merging genres. The school offers four sessions of classes per year with 45-50 classes offered per session, to an annual average of 2,500 recreational, pre-professional, and professional dancers. The school's faculty consists of approximately 40-50 of the area's leading teachers, dancers, and choreographers, including Zenon company members. For the past 18 years, Zenon's "Zone" Scholarship Program has provided subsidized classes and performance opportunities to over 130 students each session. The Zone program is unique in the Twin Cities, serving as a springboard to professional careers for dancers, teachers and choreographers alike and fulfills an important need in the dance community. An average of 10 aspiring local choreographers each year develop works on Zenon's Scholarship students.
