Brown Bag for the Elderly
Every month, volunteers pack 1,700 bags of food for hunger relief for low-income senior citizens in our community.

Pack bags of food for low-income seniors living with food insecurity. We pack 1,500 bags on a Saturday at the end of each month to help seniors make it through the month.

Volunteers needed from 7:45 AM - 11:00 AM, one Saturday each month: 2018 Dates: December 15..
2019 Dates: January 26, February 16, March 23, April 27, May 18, June 22, July 20, August 17, September 21, October 19, November 16, and December 14, 2019.

Please dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes.

Description

America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia utilizes food and education to improve lives and create a hunger-free community. Second Harvest serves 21 coastal Georgia counties where over 147,000 people that live in the service area that live at or below the poverty level. Each year, over 114,000 of these individuals are assisted with their food needs. The mission of the food bank is to lead the effort to end hunger and improve lives. Our goal is to feed the hungry by distributing nutritious food to nonprofit agencies and at risk elderly and youth, to assist in disaster relief, and work towards long term solutions to hunger and poverty.
