We are looking for volunteers who enjoy working with animals and will help us maintain our commitment to the S.A.V.E. mission. Spay/Neuter, Adopt/Advocate, Volunteer and Educate.

Event volunteers will work with the Woodford Humane Society during any off-site events. Volunteers can choose which events they want to participate in and the capacity to which they want to work. Event volunteers can have a variety of jobs but they are all equally important to the success of the event. Woodford Humane Society is a 501(c) non-profit that does not receive any government funding, so fundraising events and the volunteers that run them are VERY important to our animals.

In order to ensure an enjoyable and safe environment for our animals and new volunteers, orientation is required prior to your first visit. Please call the Adoption Center at 859-873-5491 or email us to reserve a seat. Orientations are pre-scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month and contain a limited number of seats. If you miss your scheduled orientation time, please contact us in order to reserve a spot in another session.

Mission Statement

At the Woodford Humane Society, we are striving to accomplish this mission through four areas, coined SAVE: Spay/Neuter, Adopt, Volunteer, and Educate.

Description

The Woodford Humane Society is a non-profit animal adoption center in Versailles, Kentucky. We care for the homeless and unwanted animals in Woodford County, surrounding counties, as well as animals from other states. We have welcomed thousands of animals since 1975 and strive to find good, loving homes for all of them. A careful screening process helps us match the right animals to the right adoptive homes.

With no government funding, we are completely dependent on private contributions to continue to provide care to 1,200 animals each year. Since 2007, we have placed 90% of our animals into their forever homes! The national average is around 25%.
