Adopt A Beach

Seeking persons to clean up a section of shoreline along Muskegon Lake for Adopt-A-Beach. We will record data, including types of trash, sort reyclables, conduct water quality testing and submit the information to the Alliance for the Great Lakes. DARLING CETACEANS will provide the trash bags, but volunteers need to bring their own gloves. Old clothes recommended. Children must have parent release. Register @ http://www.greatlakesadopt.org/ In the find a beach location type Muskegon Lake - Lakeshore Drive and follow the remaining instructions.

Mission Statement

The mission of DARLING CETACEANS is to educate children of all ages about marine mammals, the marine environment and how humans utilize the marine environment; be a leading resource for marine mammal scientists and researchers; and to increase the amount of information known about marine mammal species.

Description

Involved with numerous projects on local and national level; including recycling at festivals, outreach programs in classrooms, scout programs, organizing environmental events (Muskegon Area Earth Week & Muskegon County Water Festival), beach clean-ups and water quality monitoring, amphibian surveys, temporary education displays, and collaborating with other eco-groups. Also, we are developing the Ocean Centre, an interactive museum & research center.
