ORGANIZATION: Wildlife Care Association

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a dedicated, experienced team! It’s an opportunity for those interested in wildlife, ecology, vet med, getting community service hours, and more!

Wildlife Care Association is one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation groups in California! We take in over 7000 orphaned, injured, and sick wild birds, mammals, and other wildlife; raise them and/or heal them; and release them back into the wild!

Nursery Volunteers learn a variety of tasks to ensure the safe care of the baby birds and get to work with experienced personnel, so no experience is necessary! Volunteers for this position must be 18 or older. We require one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of a 48-hour minimum commitment.

About Wildlife Care Association

Location:

5211 Patrol Road, McClellan, CA 95652, US

Mission Statement

Wildlife Care Association, Inc. is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local wildlife. WCA is committed to educating and instructing the community in the respect, appreciation, and care of local wildlife. WCA is pledged to the management and preservation of wildlife habitat.

Description

Wildlife Care Association is a non-profit organization based out of McClellan, California (Sacramento area) that is permitted by the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to care for wildlife. WCA is open year round, seven days a week including most holidays.

Concerned citizens and local agencies bring us thousands of sick, injured, or orphaned wild animals each year. WCA provides emergency and on going medical services to the animals in our care with the goal of releasing them back into the wild. The staff at Wildlife Care Association relies on volunteers to accomplish this. WCA provides training for all volunteer positions. Volunteers are encouraged to expand their knowledge by attending training opportunities and classes.

WCA also provides many educational opportunities to the local Sacramento community. WCA offers live animal presentations to youth groups and other organizations to educate our community about local wildlife.

WCA is always looking for new volunteers to join our ranks. Our greatest need for volunteers comes during the spring and summer months when many local animals are breeding. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our website at www.wildlifecareassociation.com and complete a volunteer application found under the "Help WCA" tab at the top of the page.
