Voices for Children helps children in foster care through a network of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASAs are highly trained volunteers who are empowered by the court to become experts about their case children. CASAs are matched with one or more of San Diego's 5000 foster children who need their help. Advocates for these children, CASAs make recommendations to the court to ensure that the judge is informed about each child's unique needs.
CASAs are also a source of caring focus and stability. By developing a one-on-one relationship with their appointed child, they are able to understand their concerns, fears, likes, and what is truly in the child's best interest. In many instances, the CASA is the only consistent adult presence in that child’s life.

About Voices for Children
Location:

Mission Statement
Voices for Children transforms the lives of abused children in San Diego County by providing them with volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). We believe that every child deserves a safe and permanent home, and to that end, will review and monitor every court file in the system, provide a CASA to every child in the foster care system who needs one, and advocate to improve the lives of San Diego County’s foster children.
Description
CASAs can change the trajectory of a foster child’s life. They focus on an individual child’s needs, working one-on-one with a child or set of siblings. They provide a source of consistency and stability, visiting with their case children at least once a month. CASAs gather information from files and reports and communicate with social workers, family members, school officials, and other professionals in the children’s lives. They use this information and firsthand observations to advocate for the children’s best interests in Court, as well as in other aspects of their lives, such as education, health, and living arrangements. No experience is necessary! We provide all the training you’ll need, as well as a dedicated staff supervisor to partner with you on the case. With just 10-15 hours a month, you can make a difference in the life of a foster child!
