Americana Community Center is looking for Family Education Volunteers to work in a diverse multicultural setting to provide assistance with Family Education classes. These classes are designed to help adults learn English while keeping their children connected to their education through reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Family Education services are designed to make sustainable changes in a family and integrate the following activities:
- Interactive literacy activities between parents and their children.
- Training for parents regarding how to be the primary teacher for their children and full partners in the education of their children.
- Parent education that leads to economic self-sufficiency.
Volunteers are needed to assist staff with youth class lessons and games that support Family Education goals.
Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm.

Description
The Americana Community Center is located in the South End of Louisville. The South End has a large concentration of varied ethnic groups, with 26 different languages spoken. The Americana Community Center exists to be responsive to the needs of the diverse community by providing language and family based services to refugees, immigrants and other U.S. born citizens.
