Restoration work party at the San Diego River
Organization |
Description
The San Diego Audubon Society invites volunteers to help out at our coastal dune/strand habitat restoration project site. We'll be working to remove invasive plants and pick up trash along the San Diego River. This work will take place [at the restoration project site] along the SD river segment that extends from I-5 west to the river mouth along the south edge of Mission Bay Park.
Wear work clothes, preferably long pants, long sleeved shirt, hat, boots or sturdy shoes (no sandals or floppies) and use sunscreen. If you have them, bring work gloves and a weeding tool. Otherwise, we will provide gloves, tools, water and snacks. There are no public toilets in the immediate area.
As required by SD City Park & Rec Dept, for volunteers 17 and under, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver for each child at the start of the event. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. For more info, call Jim Harrison, (858) 273-5242 or SDAS office (619) 682-7200.
Directions: From Sea World Dr, at the So. Shores Park stop light, go south about 30 ft to the service road, turn left and then proceed to our meeting place about 1/2 mi east on the service road.
