Lowcountry Senior Center Volunteers

The Lowcountry Senior Center is seeking volunteers to be Certified Leaders in Health Promotion for various health programs such as Living Well South Carolina, a 6 week workshop developed by Stanford University to enable those with on-going health conditions the ability to use tools to better self-manage their condition. Other programs include: Powerful Tools for Caregivers, Healthy Living with Diabetes, Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, Arthritis Self-Help Program, and Matter of Balance.

Become a Leader

As a Certified Leader, you are responsible for successfully completing the initial training and leading at least one workshop per year. No prior teaching or health experience is required. You need to be comfortable speaking to small groups. It is helpful for leaders to have some personal experience dealing with the focus of the programs being taught, such as chronic health conditions, arthritis or caregiving.

Leader Training

As a Certified Leader, you are invited to participate in ongoing training opportunities. These trainings offer an opportunity for volunteers to continue their education and perfect their skills as health promotion leaders.
