Be an Advocate for an Abused Child!

Description

Be the voice of an abused, abandoned or neglected child! The need is urgent. 22 Beaufort/Jasper County children were turned away from the program last year because there were not enough trained volunteers available.

This free, 30 hour training will teach you how to become a positive, effective advocate for an abused child. Sign up now for the February classes and learn how 4-6 hours per month can make a difference in a child's life.

Skills

  • Guardian ad Litem volunteers are ordinary people who are committed to doing what is best for a child. The training teaches you how to be an advocate for a child who needs a caring adult to speak up and be heard. We welcome volunteers from all cultures, professions, and educational backgrounds. You must be willing to complete the training, pass criminal and background checks, and commit to visiting a child every month and appearing for them in Court, usually 2-3 times per year. Except for the Court appearances, hours are somewhat flexible and can usually be arranged around your schedule.
