Volunteers are needed to serve as advocates for the nursing and rest home residents in our Long Term Care Ombudsman Program in Bourne, Buzzards Bay, Mashpee, Martha's Vineyard, Sandwich and the Mid-Cape area. Requirements include attendance at a three-day certification class, visitation to the assigned facility once per week, attendance at the monthly meetings, a one year commitment to the program, and submitting documentation on a monthly basis. Volunteers need strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable in a long-term care setting.

Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands was founded in 1972 as a community based, private non profit organization dedicated to promoting the welfare, enhancing the quality of life and maintaining the dignity of older citizens in the 22 towns of Barnstable, Nantucket, & Dukes counties.
Description
Both the state and federal government have designated Elder Services to be the primary link on the Cape and Islands to ACCESS, SERVICE, and ADVOCACY for elders.
Elder Services relies on over a thousand volunteers to assist us in our many programs of community service.
Volunteers will play an ever increasing role in helping us meet the growing challenges of our mission.
