Position Summary: ALSC Development Coordinator
The Association of Literary Scholars & Critics (ALSC) seeks a part-time, volunteer grant writer and development coordinator. The successful candidate will have exemplary writing skills, experience in fundraising and development with non-profits in the arts, humanities, or education, and a background in literary studies and/or a personal interest in the literary arts and education.
Position Title: Development Coordinator
Position Type: Volunteer-to-Permanent Support Staff
Position Location: Boston, MA (Kenmore Square office)
Reports to: Executive Director
Primary responsibilities:- Research and identification of prospective new corporate, foundation, governmental, and individual funding sources for general operations, capacity building, and specific programs
- Drafting, editing, production, and tracking of fundraising proposals, case statements, presentations, reports, and acknowledgements
- General support to the Executive Director in the areas of fundraising, grant writing, and grant management
- Preparation of budgets and narratives for grant proposals and projects
- Orderly maintenance of all files and archives related to development
Skills
- Qualifications: * Identification with the mission of our organization * Demonstrable success in grant writing and development work for non-profit arts or humanities organizations * Excellent writing, communication, and networking skills * A bachelor's degree in English or other humanities discipline, public or business administration, communications, liberal arts, or a related field * Interest and background in literary arts and studies * Desire to play a key role in the growth and development of an international literary non-profit organization * Experience in maintaining donor databases and clear records * Strong work ethic and ability to work unsupervised
