About South Bend Pantry & Social Services, INC

Mission Statement

South Bend Pantry & Social Services, INC is a non-

profit agency serving South Bend & Elkhart County

residents who are in need of food, clothes, and

toiletry items. Applicants must fill out a short form

to verify their individual need status. Once the

application is completed participants can get food,

clothes, and toiletry items based on supply. The

agency is not new but yet has expanded its

services to South Bend & Elkhart. We don't turn

anyone away who is truly in need no matter what

city he or she resides in as long as the individual

is willing to abide by the rules that are set forth

by the agency & we have the supplies.

We believe that the physical, mental, spiritual, &

social needs must be met before a person can be

made whole and stand on their on. We don't

believe in just helping the physical needs of the

community because at this agency& ministry we

believe that by helping an individual in part will

not allow them to stand on their own and be self

sufficient.

Here at South Bend Pantry & Social Services, INC

we do our best to deal with all four components &

therefore believe once these needs are meet the

person is whole and is able to be fully

independent.

Meeting the physical needs of this community

means to us to offers services that would keep

families warm during the winter by offering coats,

boots, shoes, gloves, hats, toiletry items, as well

as clothing.

We offer services that would deal with mental &

spiritual issues by providing a safe environment

for families, and prayer if need be.

The agency helps individuals who express an

interest in getting help with social issues. We do

this by referring them to others agencies within

the community who would like to help & by using

our personal resources to help the individual

meet their goal.

The Pantry is open once a week to low-income

families, elderly, sick and shut in, and the lame

that would otherwise go hungry. We give out non-

perishable items, clothes, and toiletry items as we

can get them. All families are screened to ensure

that they are truly in need. We ask all applicants

not to abuse the pantry and we ask them not to

take the food or any other items that they don't

need. We would like to continue on helping those

that we can but we know that no one agency can

help everyone. Every agency does what it can with

the resources that are available. This agency is

seeking out help from the community so that we

can continue our services.

We would like to continue to be a blessing to this

region by doing what God has asked us to do.

That is to show love and charity to others as he

has shown to us. He said when we feed others we

are feeding him.

Because we know that the Bible says: Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every wordthat proceedeth out of the mouth of God. So in this verse it is telling us that we need more than just food to heal our souls. Without help this goal is impossible.

In Jesus Name Let everything be done decent and in order
