We offer unpaid internships year round. These internships can be designed to fit the student's schedule within our regular work hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM (open until 5:30 on Thursdays.) We would like a minimum of 15 hours a week over a minimum period of 3 months. We are happy to work with students on the Federal Work Study Program.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Interns will assist staff with the day-to-day operations of the organization, while gaining experience in how a not-for-profit is managed. Interns' duties will include, but may not be limited to:
Interviewing and writing press releases for community leaders of organizations that have donated money or goods to HSP.
Team work responsible for producing donations of non-perishable food, new toys and books by contacting school and church service groups for donations.
Contacting school, church and corporate groups to encourage fund raising for sponsorships.
Producing annual reports by interviewing seniors and writing profiles to be sent to sponsors.
Researching new sources of food and toy donations.
Researching and writing grants.
Interacting with volunteers.
BENEFITS OF AN INTERNSHIP WITH HSP
