The Feed the Kids Project started in Summer 2004, providing 11 impoverished families with a grocery delivery each month during June, July, and August. Over the years the program has grown to annually serving 100 needy families, with, at least, 525 lbs of food in the summer months including.

* At least 3 boxes of non-perishable food (weighing 25 lbs. each)

* An assortment of 8 fresh vegetables

* An assortment of 7 fresh fruits

* At least 3 loaves of Pepperidge Farm Bread

* 7 frozen meats, including beef, chicken & pork

How You Can Help Feed The Kids!

Hold a Fundraiser!

Donations will enable us to purchase fresh produce and meat.

Collect Food!

We are in particular need of:

- Soups

- Canned Fruit, Vegetables, Fruit Cups

- Cereal Bars, Granola Bars

- Peanut Butter

- Tomato Sauce/Pasta Sauce

- Canned Tuna/Chicken

-Cereal (Raisin Bran, Cheerios, Special K, etc.)

Sort and Box Food!

Groups of 5 - 15 people , 2-4 hours a day. Weekdays from 9a.m.-4p.m. from April 15th-June 30th. Please call for details.

Deliver Groceries or Help Us Load Cars on Distribution Day!

Contact us if you would like volunteer in our warehouse to distribute food to needy families between the hours of 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m, several different shifts available. Distribution days for 2014: June 11th, July July 9th, August 6th.

Sponsor A Family!

Only $75 will feed an entire family for one month. $225 will ensure groceries for three whole months for one family!

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Humanitarian Service Project to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to seniors and children in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois, without discrimination or exclusion for any reason.

Description

Through our three programs, HSP provides life changing support to impoverished seniors, children, and families throughout DuPage and Kane. These programs are:

Senior Citizen Project - Provides nutritious groceries on a monthly basis to the elderly. Each senior receives a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishables, bread, paper products, hygiene items and a small gift from their "Secret Pal" donor.

Children’s Project- Provides children with nutritional support at critical times of the year to combat hunger and food insecurity. Children ages 3 to 11 also receive a birthday box filled with gifts, books, schools supplies and party supplies.

Christmas Offering- Provides nutritious groceries and Christmas presents to 1900+ children and 135+ seniors living in poverty. Over 22 tons of food and 10,000+ gifts are distributed during December.
