Volunteers to participate in SAR training activities and searches:
1) Dog handlers to train SAR dogs
2) Ground support personnel for SAR dog teams
3) Volunteers to serve as "subjects" for training SAR dogs
4) Radio operators to handle communications during SAR missions
5) Logistics support, primarily using telephone and internet
6) Volunteers to search on foot, mountain bike, ATV, other ground vehicles, and aircraft

Description
Los Alamos Civil Defense Search and Rescue (LACDSAR) is a registered New Mexico nonprofit and a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Incorporated in 1997, LACDSAR continues the mission of a Manhattan Project era organization of the same name. The current LACDSAR founder was Robert E. Cowan, who had been an active member of the original LACDSAR from 1959 onward.
Donated funds are used to purchase and/or maintain radios and other emergency communications equipment; vehicle liability insurance; specialized search and rescue equipment; topographic maps, first aid supplies and other expendables; and limited food.
