Volunteers are key members of our hospice care team. The best part about being a volunteer is YOU can decide how you can help. Volunteers help make a difference by assisting patients and their families in a variety of ways. We are constantly striving to meet the needs of our patients and currently seeking people who enjoy baking and cooking. Food represents an integral part of human livelihood, identity, and culture. Do you remember the main dish served at your wedding? What about that special birthday cake your mom use to make? Or your uncle's famous BBQ served at summertime get-togethers? Food is tied to memories and significant events in our lives. Many patients crave the satisfaction and comfort that can only be found from their favorite dish from the past. Volunteer your talent and time by preparing food for patients and the family and friends visiting with patients.

• Hospice: What does it take to become an Evercare Hospice Volunteer? It takes training. Evercare volunteers are thoroughly trained in the goals and philosophy of hospice care, as well as the care and comfort of the hospice patient. Training for patient care volunteers addresses such topics as: Providing comfort and support to patients and families; Understanding emotional and spiritual needs of patients at end of life; Concepts of death and dying; Emergency procedures and Privacy act In addition to training, there is a required background check and drug screen at no cost to you.
