Mentor! Be a Big Brother or Big Sister

ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities

  • 161 people are interested

Our community-based mentoring program offers an opportunity for families to connect their child with a caring adult mentor who will help them grow into their full potential. Our mentors, who we call BIGS, are either individuals or couples committed to growing this relationship, introducing youth to new things, and helping their Little continually discover their own unique skills, curiosities, and talents.

Once a match has been made, Bigs and Littles spend time together out in the community doing activities that they both enjoy. It can be riding bikes, visits to museums, playing board games, simply hanging out, or whatever they decide together. It can be weekends, evenings or afterschool. Each match is unique and develops a rhythm that works for them.

Become a Mentor Today! If you or someone you know wants to be a Big Brother or Big Sister join us at an upcoming information session: www.bigstwincities.org/get-involved/volunteer

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities

Location:

Mission Statement

Create and support mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities is the largest youth mentoring organization in the greater Twin Cities area serving Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka and parts of Dakota and Washington counties. Each year, we match up to 3,000 youth (Littles) and their families with caring adults (Bigs) who volunteer as youth mentors.

All youth benefit from having another caring adult in their life as they experience life's opportunities and challenges. With support of our community of participants, partners, staff and board, we want every young person to have a mentor, be affirmed in who they are, and explore who they want to be.
