Tutoring: A life-changing experience
Meet new people and share your knowledge!

Help someone learn the English language.

Get to know someone from another culture while helping them improve their English skills. Tutors are needed to help adults improve their speaking, reading, and writing skills.

You don't have to be a teacher or even have a college education because we will train you with everything you need to know! You don't even have to speak any foreign language to teach English. We want volunteers from all walks of life! Our students are diverse, so we want our tutors to be diverse too!

One-to-one and small group opportunities are available throughout Wayne County. Contact us and we will work with your needs!

For a complete list of upcoming training dates, be sure to check out our facebook page and click on the "events" button on the left side. If none of the listed dates work for you, please contact us anyway! We are excited for new volunteers and we will work with you to get you started!

"Keys to Successful Tutoring" (follow up once coursework has been completed)

This workshop serves as a springboard to developing an actual tutoring relationship; covers topics like lesson planning, documentation and staffing support. New tutors should attend this workshop before or within their first month of tutoring. To familiarize the volunteer with our location and resources, this workshop is held in our office or in the classroom space next door.
