Volunteers are needed to sort, organize and categorize donated food to shelves or boxes; fill grocery bag orders, assist at the client desk and occasionally, unload donations from vehicles and refill pantry freezer/refridgerator.
Volunteers are requested to work from 2 - 3 hours each time they assist. Monday - Friday shifts are also available from 9:30 - 12:30 and 12:30 - 3:30. The pantry is closed on the weekends.
T-shirts and jeans are allowed. Shoes must be closed toe - no sandals or flip-flops.
Volunteers must be age 16 and older to work independently. Volunteers age 10 - 15 must have parental supervision.
Applicants* will need to attend a NAM Volunteer Orientation, fill out a Volunteer Application and pass a simple background check. Call 281-885-4604 to inquire about volunteer orientation dates and times.
*Anyone seeking court-ordered community service hours should contact the NAM Resale Shop and Donation Center at 281-880-9000. Orientation is not required.

Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is a non-profit, community-based, multi-program social service agency established in 1983. NAM provides assistance in areas including food, shelter, health, education, safety and financial education. Guided by a small staff, more than 2,800 volunteers work together to provide a variety of basic services to our neighbors in need in Northwest Harris County and throughout the greater Houston area.
