The Plymouth Historical Society will be leading an illegal dump site cleanup at the site of the historic Avondale Mine Site and EPCAMR is supporting the cleanup that it has conducted itself for nearly a decade before. The site is registered with the Great PA Cleanup. Other partners are surely going to be involved.Just ... recently a bat gate was installed and the community garden beds installed by EPCAMR and members of the Anthracite Living History Group were reconstructed on the site due to access issues getting to the mine opening. The PHS has gained ownership of the site recently from the Earth Conservancy and the preservation efforts at the site are back on track and work will continue to move forward to improve the preservation of the site and access along the Susquehanna Warrior Trail that parallels State Route 11 and is the abandoned Delaware Lackawanna & Western RailRoad grade located in Plymouth Township, Luzerne County, PA. EPCAMR is seeking volunteers to assist the PHS with the event. EPCAMR has contributed a $500 donation towards their efforts through a mini-grant program it administers on behalf of the ARIPPA (www.arippa.org) trade association. Gloves and vests will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes, boots, and NO open-toed sandals or flip-flops!

This event will take place on Saturday, April 26th from 9:00am-12:00pm
