Since 2000, the Janesville/Rock Valley Chapter of Project Linus has distributed over 8,000 blankets to children suffering traumas in our area. Create a new blanket (approximately 36in.x36in. to 40in.x60in. in a kid-friendly color. Should be machine washable and a tight (no lace or granny squares) pattern. Yarn available by request. To be donated to an ill or traumatized child at various area facilities serving children in need.

Mission Statement
To provide new, handmade security blankets (knit, crocheted or quilted by volunteers) to comfort children suffering any type of trauma.
Description
The Rock County chapter of Project Linus is a 100% volunteer effort by those who knit, crochet or quilt. All blankets have a Project Linus label attached. Blankets are donated to 28 area facilities such as Mercy Hospital, Beloit Memorial Hospital, Fort Atkinson Hospital, Red Cross, Rock Co. Foster Care, Children's Social Services, AIDS Network, Janesville Police & Fire Depts., YWCA Care House, House of Mercy, HospiceCare, schools, Jefferson Co. Health Dept., churches, and others. Donation sites - Janesville, Beloit, Fort Atkinson and Jefferson. Those who cannot make a blanket are urged to donate materials (i.e. yarn, fabric, batting, even new postage stamps, office materials, etc.) for those who can make blankets.
