Most of us take food shopping for granted. It's a chore we don't always want to do, but we can usually get our groceries when we need to, one way or another.

In fact, there are a lot of elderly community members on the North Shore who can't get out themselves and who have no one to shop for them. This is very stressful and can end up being a deciding factor on whether or not an older person can remain independent.

As a volunteer food shopper and a friendly visitor for a frail elderly man or woman, you can make a big difference with a small amount of time each week. Usually the shopping orders are small and the time commitment is very managable. The visits are fun too.

North Shore Elder Services is looking for food shopper volunteers in the towns of Middleton, Danvers, Peabody, Salem and Marblehead. There is room for schedule flexibility and volunteers working together. We could also use more substitute on-call volunteers. Please email or give us a call if you are interested in learning more.
