To help facilitate a smooth running afterschool program for the children of the shelter. To provide homework assistance to youth ages 6-12 years who are currently enrolled in our East Fir School Age Program. Volunteers will assist our youth with homework, reading and computer needs.
Supervise school age children
One on one homework tutoring, reading, and assisting staff with food preparation.
Supervise crafts
Play games
Be aware of safety
Students should be at least 18 years of age and have a passion for working with youth. All volunteers must complete a YWCA application and a background check.
There are no major physical demands besides being energetic when working with the youth. When working with youth there will always be emotional demands. It is important to know that working in our youth program volunteers will make connections with our youth that can be life changing and will touch your heart.
All volunteers will go through an orientation with the program coordinator which will introduce the program and the expectations of the volunteer position
