Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care is currently seeking certified handlers and therapy dogs to visit with our hospice patients. Dogs and handlers must have Delta or similar certification and then complete 16 hours of hospice training. Hospice care is the end of life care for terminally ill patients and the ongoing support to their families. Volunteers visit for 1 - 2 hours per week. Volunteers are fundamental to the hospice concept and a vital part of the hospice team, serving as inspiration to patients and their families.

Volunteers are ordinary people with extraordinary love and concern for others, contributing their time, talent and energy at an extraordinary time of life. Volunteer duties may include the following: provide companionship, listen, read, run an errand or cook a meal. Volunteers are assigned to one family.
