Our mission here at Big Brothers Big Sisters, is to provide children with a strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationship that changes their lives for the better, forever. By being a Big Brother, Big Sister, or mentor2.0 volunteer, you have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve their fullest potential. Simply by being yourself, sharing what you know, and investing your time in your Little, you will have a significant impact on their life. Let me quickly tell you about our 3 mentoring programs and how to get started:

Community Based Big:

A Big is matched with a Little ages 6 - 14 with a commitment to see each other two to four times per month for a couple hours. Matches spend time together in the local community and plan their own outings based on the activities they like to do; such as playing catch, reading books or getting ice cream. The mentor must be at least 18 years old.

To become a Community Based Big:

  1. Complete Application
  2. Complete Pre-Match Training

mentor 2.0 Mentor:

A mentor is paired with a high school student at select partner schools. Mentoring takes place each week during the school year through online communication on our proprietary platform complemented with pre-scheduled in-person events every 4 to 6 weeks. mentor2.0 is more flexible on the mentor’s schedule and designed to help students graduate high school prepared for the future. The mentor must be at least 21 years old.

Mentors will be matched with a mentee at either:

  • New Tech High School(Dallas ISD: 4730 Lancaster Rd. Dallas, TX 75216)
  • Irving High School(Irving ISD: 900 N. O'Connor Irving, TX 75061)

To become a mentor2.0 Mentor:

  2. Complete your mentor2.0 Consent Forms
  3. Complete Pre-Match Training

  2. Meet your Mentee!



Site Based Big:

A Big meets with a Little two to four times a month throughout the school year during a non-core class, extended lunch break or after school. Bigs and Littles work on homework together, play games, enjoy recess or simply share stories with one another. The mentor must be at least 18 years old.

To become a Site Based Big:

  2. Complete Pre-Match Training
