Volunteer Certified Ombudsman: Join our program by becoming certified and visit nursing home and personal care home residents on a regular basis to check on their care and handle any complaints they might have.
Volunteer OmBuddy: Nursing home residents love visitors and new friends. Instead of being a pen pal, be a visit pal. Visit a nursing home resident on a weekly one to one basis. Get to know a resident and share experiences; be a pal; be an OmBuddy.
Volunteer Trainer/Program Information Person: Present in-service training and/or community education to nursing homes, personal care homes, area service agencies, church groups and civic and community groups.
Volunteer Fundraiser: Help this program raise money for annual events sponsored by our program: Spring StarDust Ball & Dance; Winter Holiday Luncheon; Assistive devices and equipment that improves residents' quality of life.
Special Event Volunteer: Provide assistance at our StarDust Ball and Dinner Dance and/or Winter Holiday Luncheon.

Ombudsman is a Swedish word that means "citizen representative". A Long-Term Care Ombudsman seeks to improve the quality of life of the residents of long-term care facilities.
Description
A Long-Term Care Ombudsman seeks to improve the quality of life of the residents of long-term care facilities. These facilities include nursing homes, personal care homes, often called assisted living facilities or residential care facilities. Long-Term Care Ombudsmen vist long-term care facilities routinely to talk to residents and monitor condtions. Their primary duties are to work to resolve problems or complaints affecting long-term care residents; identify problem areas in long-term care and advocate for change; and promote resident, family and community involvement in long-term care.
