Food Rescue US is a leader in reducing both hunger and food waste in America by rescuing surplus food from businesses that would have otherwise gone to waste but is still perfectly good to eat. Food rescuers pick-up excess food from local food donors and deliver it to directly to local social service agencies providing for the food insecure. Rescuers use their own vehicles and select times that are convenient for them to pick-up and drop-off the excess food. The process is quick, simple, and incredibly rewarding.
Restaurants utilize the weeks leading up to their opening to fine tune menu items and train their staff. These restaurants may prepare hundreds of meals in pre-opening week, with no customers to consume them! Rather than waste these meals, they partner with Food Rescue US to donate them.
We are seeking rescuers in the Secaucus area for rescues from a fast-casual chain opening soon! Rescuers will be assigned to pick up a specific number of meals at a set time and and provided instructions on where to deliver the food to nearby.
These rescues will be scheduled either at 2PM or 8PM and volunteer rescuers must be prompt.

Food Rescue US exists as a platform for the rescue of healthy surplus food, to be direcctly transferred to those in need. Hunger is no longer just a challenge to the homeless and jobless, hunger happens near us; it happens to families we know, to people with jobs and homes who are trying desperately to make life work.

This platform is a toolbox of information and we focus on training, technology, and coordination to make volunteering and donating as simple and effective as possible. We're not saying that ending unnecessary hunger in our communities will be easy, but we do believe it's simple and that all of our efforts when combined form something substantial. In this case, since we began, that is over 17 million meals delivered and 28 million pounds of food saved from landfill.
